Our History
The Korea Hapkido Federation (KHF) was founded in 1965 by Grandmaster Ji Han-Jae, who systematised and named modern Hapkido. It quickly became the official close-combat system for South Korea’s Presidential Security Service and National Police Academy. From the 1970s onward, the KHF led Hapkido’s global expansion and today remains the art’s largest governing body, with branches in 87 countries, millions of practitioners, and its headquarters in Seoul plus a central training institute in Gyeongju.
